Most people feel drawn to nature and the natural world and there’s a reason why. Connecting with nature and the natural elements is very important to the soul. You have most likely noticed that any time spent in nature feels deeply calming and restorative.
That’s no wonder considering that:
First, nature has a way of balancing the mind and soul. It cleanses our souls from energetical debris, rejuvenates us with life force and fresh oxygen. Flowers, trees and water can have a powerful effect on our emotions and wellbeing too.
Second, when we are connected to nature, we are reminded of the simple things in life and we are able to find a sense of peace. We are also reminded of our connection to the universe, our connection to all living things, of the perfection in the uniqueness, of the natural abundance in life and of the ability to thrive in diverse conditions.
There are many ways to connect with nature and each person tends to have a favorite. We can go for a walk, spend time in the garden, visit a national or state park, go camping, or engage in more active pursuits like hiking, backpacking and fishing. Some are lucky enough to be able to simply sit outside their house and appreciate the beauty of the natural world around them.
However you choose to do it, connecting with nature is an important part of a healthy and well-rounded life. What better way to spend the day than being surrounded by trees, feeling the earth below our feet and gazing at a sunny blue sky?
